“Updated September 10” Vietnam proposes 5 days quarantine for certain foreigners
Passengers entering Vietnam should be quarantined at the hotel for 5 days, during which time they will be checked again.
During the meeting, Minister Mai Tien Dung said that the isolation range of accommodation places for foreigners and Vietnamese people should be expanded.
Mr. Mai said that the guiding spirit of the premier is to gradually reopen the international route cautiously but not too strictly, which will inhibit development opportunities.
“At present, there is a huge demand for experts, enterprises, and investors who want to come to Vietnam to investigate. If it is closed and quarantined for 14 days, no one will come.” Mr. Mai said.
Therefore, government departments will report to the premier tomorrow (September 11) at the premier’s executive meeting on prevention of COVID-19 through the comments of ministries, tourism associations, and enterprises.
Passengers must be tested negative three days before entering the host country.
People entering Vietnam are expected to be quarantined at their homes for five days, during which time will be tested PCR twice. If the result is negative, the guest will be transferred to home care. All testing and isolation costs will be paid by the guest.
In the short term, the above recommendations apply to officials holding official and diplomatic passports; international institutions and organizations; experts, managers, high-tech workers; investors, relatives of these people. But there is no mention of international tourists.

Passengers traveling from a third country, transit at Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, etc., and then going to Vietnam, must take another plane, and then comply with the 14-day compulsory segregation rule.
It is suggested that the Ministry of health should consider preparing for the PCR test to return the results quickly and accurately.
“We have to reform the administrative procedures, issue visas quickly and have good information to contact local and business so that passengers can easily enter and perform well in quarantine,” Mr. Mai said It will also be recommended that the government instruct ministries to provide specific technical guidance without creating difficulties or creating additional procedures.
